SHAW3D / A GUIDE TO YOUR PRINTS

About 3D Prints
& Product Care

Made layer by layer

At Shaw3D, we turn digital designs into physical products using 3D printing. Our printers build each piece by laying down thin layers of melted plastic, gradually creating the finished shape.

This lets us make detailed decorations, practical replacement parts, personalized products, and small batches of designs.

What a 3D print looks like

Printed products have their own character. You may see fine layer lines, a small seam, or slight differences in surface texture. These are normal features of the printing process. Colors can also vary slightly between material batches and what you see on your screen.

Cracks, separating layers, or broken pieces are different from normal print texture. If your order arrives damaged, please contact us.

Heat, sunlight, and outdoor use

Different printing materials handle heat and weather differently. PLA, used in several of our products, can soften or change shape when exposed to heat. Hot vehicles, direct sunlight, exhaust, and heated equipment can create conditions that are unsuitable for some prints.

Outdoor suitability depends on the specific product and material. Follow the individual listing’s guidance rather than assuming every print is suitable for year-round outdoor use. Material guidance

Strength and proper use

A print’s strength depends on its material, shape, and how its layers are arranged. Thin details can be more vulnerable to impacts, bending, or excessive force. Avoid forcing parts into place or overtightening screws. How print design affects strength

Use each product only for its stated purpose. Our decorative hitch covers and supplied printed pins are not towing equipment.

Check the fit before ordering

Replacement parts and fitted accessories are made for specific dimensions. A product name or model reference alone does not guarantee compatibility.

Compare the measurements and photos in the listing with your existing part. If you are unsure, contact us before ordering—we can help you identify which measurements to check.

Water, food, and cleaning

A printed object is not automatically waterproof or suitable for food contact. Unless a listing specifically confirms otherwise, use decorative vases with a watertight liner and keep prints out of direct contact with food. The filament alone does not establish the suitability of the finished product for food use. Food-contact guidance

For general cleaning, use a soft, damp cloth. Avoid dishwashers, boiling water, harsh chemicals, and soaking unless the product’s care instructions allow them.

A note about decorative switch covers

Our current PLA switch covers are not electrically certified wallplates and have not been evaluated for flame resistance. Use an approved wallplate where required and have electrical suitability checked before installation.

Questions before you order?

Check the individual product listing for fit, material, and care information. If you have a particular use in mind, ask us before purchasing so we can help you choose appropriately.
